Overview of the measurement heads for photometric measurands and light color
Broadband detectors for optical radiation
Broadband detectors are built with semiconductor photodiodes. When the spectral responsivity function of the photodiode should be matched to response functions such as the sensitivity of the eye V(λ), it is done using an optical correction filter in the photodiode‘s field of view. Furthermore, the field of view of the photodiode can be adapted to different measurement tasks. Diffuser windows, optics and integrating spheres are hereby employed.
The photodiodes of the broadband detectors are operated in short circuit. In this mode of operation, the signal current exhibits outstanding linearity over a very large dynamic range (up to eight decades).
Gigahertz-Optik manufactures signal amplifiers and optometers in various application oriented versions that are ideal for amplification of the signal current and analogue-digital conversion of the measurement values.
Broadband detectors for photometry and luminous color measurement
Among the most important topics in light measurement technology are photometry and luminous color measurement technology. This applications entail evaluation of light in correspondence with the brightness and color sensations of the human eye. Radiation receivers for this application range are therefore equipped with optical correction filters that offer the detectors a spectral responsivity function that corresponds to the rods and cones of the human eye. Gigahertz-Optik manufactures light measurement heads with photopic, scotopic and colorimetric responsivity functions.
Broadband detectors for absolute photometric measurands
In addition to the spectral responsivity, light detectors must be matched to the stipulated measurement geometry. Gigahertz-Optik manufactures light measurement heads for the following measurands:
- Illuminance
- Luminance
- Luminous flux
- Luminous intensity
- Luminous intensity distribution
Traceable calibration in absolute photometric measurands
The Gigahertz-Optik calibration laboratory for optical radiation measurands offers traceable recalibrations for its photometric and colorimetric light detectors. Each calibration is documented with its own individual calibration certificate whose design and contents correspond to the ISO 17025 specifications.
